Kabul Safe City
Synopsis
During the Russian War, to avoid his son’s forced conscription into the Afghan army, a taxi driver pays a smuggler to send him to Iran. Once gone, Darya, the son, disappears and there is no news of him. Delara, Darya’s mother, is inconsolable.
Zohra, Delara’s niece, is exquisite and delicate. When she comes to visit, for the first time, Delara and Sadegh think that a daughter-in-law like her would radically change their lives and bring their son back home. Both husband and wife share this same dream. Sadegh changes his appearance and goes to Iran to find his son and obtain his agreement. The much-missed son has changed his name, his life and his identity. He offends his father publicly and violently rejects his offer.
In return, the humiliated father, not daring to break the heart of his wife, makes her believe that their son has accepted the idea of getting engaged to Zohra. Soon, the families gather to celebrate the proxy engagement of Zohra and Darya. The photo of the groom-to-be attracts all sorts of praise. Zohra has prepared everything to leave…
